15 hours of free childcare

15 hour free childcare for 2 year olds

You can use your funding in participating settings like preschools and sessional playgroups, day care, nursery schools, and childminders. If you are eligible then you will receive a code to claim your funding, so long as it's the January, April or September after your child's second birthday. Please visit GOV.UK for more details on the eligibility criteria you must meet for 15 hours of free childcare.

30 hours of free childcare

30 hours of free childcare for 3-4 year olds

Available for all families in England. You may be eligible for an extra 15 funded hours if you and your partner expect to earn on average £139.00 per week. This is equal to 16 working hours on the national minimum wage. This is inclusive of the families on maternity, paternity, or adoption leave or if you are unable to work because you are disabled or care for someone who is disabled.

2 year funding update - new for working families

As of April 2024, 2 year old funding is now available for working families, providing 15 hours of childcare or early education for 38 weeks which you can use flexibly.

Eligibility:

  • If you and your partner expect to earn at least £167 per week (equal to 16 hours on the minimum wage).

  • If you are on maternity, paternity, or adoption leave, or are unable to work because of a disability, or are caring for someone, you could be eligible.

  • If you and your partner individually earn over £100,000 each, you are not eligible for funding.

  • To check your eligibility, visit GOV.UK and once you receive your code, take it to your provider.
